Penulis adalah tenaga pengajar pada STAI Al-Qolam Gondanglegi Malang JatimĢ052 ~ Islamic Tourism: Catering Religious Enthusiasm of Rising Middle Class menengah yang menaikkan tingkat kebutuhan hingga kebutuhan tersier yaitu kebutuhan wisata sebagai sarana refreshing. Hal tersebut juga didukung oleh pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia yang menumbuhkan kelas 1 Berbagai destinasi wisata terus berbenah untuk mengundang para pengunjung. Indonesia, sebagai negara dengan sejuta tradisi yang unik, juga tidak luput dari kecenderungan tersebut. Setiap negara berlomba-lomba menonjolkan keunikan budayanya, keelokan alamnya, bahkan keanekaragaman tradisi kulinernya agar dapat menarik sebanyak mungkin wisatawan yang berkunjung. Pendahuluan Saat ini, kecenderungan global menjadikan pariwisata sebagai sumber ekonomi baru, disamping industri kreatif dan teknologi informasi. Keyword: Religious Tourism, Pondok Pesantren, motivation and process, negative/positive effects. Positive effects includes the mission of da’wah and economic empowerment, while the negative ones are inappropriate tourist activities, overcrowding as well as commercialization. Meanwhile, becoming tourism destination affected this pondok pesantren both positive and negative effects. Even the workers are the students themselves. The only inpsiration is ‘ilham’ (divine inspiration) of Kiai.

The construction didn’t use any architect or other expert and financially self supported. The main motivation of the construction was ‘da’wah’ through building instead of words. The main questions of this paper are the motivation of constructing the building, the process of the construction, and the effects of becoming the destination of tourism on the existence of Pondok Pesantren Biharu Bahri ‘Asali Fadlail al-Rahman. It has luxurious, artistic as well as unique building. Pondok Pesantren Biharu Bahri ‘Asali Fadlail al-Rahman, which is located in Malang East Java, is one of them. One of them is pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding school) because it’s a unique subculture. Hence, every intake has been being taken to develop it, including promoting new destinations. Indonesian government has realized the role of this kind of tourism in economic development.

Religious tourism is an important part of the international tourist market, including in Indonesia.
